All Dressed Up With Nowhere To Go...

See how happy I look in this picture?  My husband took this picture of me as we were on our way out to Downsview Park, Toronto for the Radiohead concert.  I was so excited because this was the first time I would be seeing the band after loving them for about 16 years.  Since we were not familiar with the opening act, and the event had between 35,000-40,000 in attendance, we decided to wait out the line up at the gates and arrive late.  We were out having dinner when a friend of my husband's messaged him to tell him that about an hour prior to gates open, the stage collapsed and numerous crew workers were injured with one fatality.

The concert was cancelled.  It was tragic.  I felt saddened for the families of the man who died and the others hurt.  I also felt badly for the out of town/Country travellers who paid travel and hotel expenses for the night.  I would be lying if I didn't feel terribly disappointed and sorry for myself as well, for missing out on an amazing experience.  (Though I know the in the grand scheme of things my let down of a night was a lot better than those who were given bad or devastating news)  I ended up listening to Radiohead on my IPod while giving myself a manicure on the front porch...BOO!

Okay, so before you all think I'm crazy, let me say that prior to being a stay at home mom, I was a Salon Coordinator for a Paul Mitchell Focus Salon.  I am crazy about PM, it is the only brand I will use on my hair because it works the best with the added benefit of being a company I truly believe in that goes above and beyond to ensure change is made in this world.  They also do not endorse or conduct any animal testing.  It's quite the list up there, but on an ordinary day, I would not necessarily use all or even half of these products.  Amazingly, all these products can be used without any gunky product feel.  LOVE!  Whew!  That was a mouthful;)

Closet Goddis

As I am sure you have seen through my prior posts, I am a huge fan on the design label Goddis.  Goddis knits really capture the bohemian comfort and quality that I find irresistibly appealing.  Each collection consists of gorgeous patterns and colours, and maintains a laid back Californian vibe. Over the past few years, Goddis has become an essential label amongst Hollywood starlets.  Celebs such as Vanessa Hudgens, Halle Berry, Miley Cyrus, Ashley Tisdale, Kate Hudson and Jennifer Aniston have been spotted wearing Goddis.  I myself, have quite a growing collection!  Here are a few pieces...

 The Goddis Naples Wrap may be my favourite piece within my Goddis collection.  I find this wrap so easy to wear with so many different outfits, and I really like the relaxed arm! I purchased this item in Del Sol, however the Naples style comes in a number of fabulous colours.  I would definitely buy this cut style again, especially in Jewel Tone.  Key Lime is also beautiful, as well as Sea Isle.

Latest Boot Love

I've already established that I can be prone to impulse shopping, and sometimes my impulsive buy can turn into an utter waste of money.  I am no stranger to buyer's remorse.  This being said, sometimes my spur of the moment purchase can surprise me by turning into one of my absolute favourite items. 

When I first saw these Jessica Simpson boots I loved their style. Having never bought shoes of this brand before, I assumed they would be like every other pair that looked like them...difficult to walk in and once you took them off for a second, your feet would hurt too much to get them back on again. The type of shoe or boot I haven't been able to successfully wear since my early 20's...certainly not since I have had my daughter. I would have put them down without a second thought, but the store in which I was shopping was having a 50% off the lowest ticket price sale.

These boots were really reduced They had an original price point of $175.00, and had been marked down twice, once to around $130.00 and then again down to $89. Realising they were down to $44, I decided to try them on, and was surprised to find they elongated my legs. This usually is not the case with any ankle boot...normally this style cuts my already short legs even shorter. I paced around the store, and found them relatively easy to walk in, but I was still convinced that after an hour or two they would start to suck. I bought them anyway, thinking that maybe one day, I'd have a place...sans baby, to wear them out. 

This past weekend my husband and I were going to to dinner and a bar with friends, and I had no idea what to wear with my adorable Alice + Olivia Cut Out Sheath Dress.  All the heels I owned, that were matching, were all open toed and not suitable for the weather.  All my boots looked awkward or did not work...until I pulled these ankle boots out of the closet.  They were perfect with the dress.

 A couple miraculous things occurred while wearing these ankle boots.  First off, I did not at any point in the evening fall, this is pretty amazing considering I'm a clumsy person and these are some serious platforms with a dainty backing to the wedge.  Second, they were comfortable.  I wore them for about 8 hours, I was able to take them off and back on again without feeling as though I would die.  It was fantastic.  I fell madly in love with my spur of the moment, despite reservations, purchase.  I know that I will continue to pull these out of my closet for many more occasions.  I wish this happened to me more often! 

L'Odyssée de Catier 2012

I saw the  L'Odyssée de Cartier  ad on television last night, and could not believe how gorgeous this was! 

Celebrating their 165th anniversary, French jewelry house Cartier  released this stunning three and a half minute epic mini film. 

Apparently it took Cartier two years until completion.

 The film was directed by Bruno Aveillan, an internationally leading advertising film director. The score was composed and arranged by renowned orchestrator Pierre Adenot.

It's always such a nice surprise when something unexpected happens to brighten your day, especially with the weather being dark and overcast; which it certainly has been over the last few days. 

 My something unexpected came in the form of the Liebster Blog Award, given to me from Tracey at Breathing English Air.  Such a nice surprise!  Tracey has a fantastic blog, that I have really enjoyed, with thoughtful posts and some beautiful photographs.  I highly recommend going to view her blog.

M.O.T.H. Metier

I am so excited to share with you some of the fabulous jewellery designs of M.O.T.H. Metier.  A few years ago, I met the creative force behind M.O.T.H., Cindy, through a mutual friend.  Cindy had brought some of her gorgeous pieces for some perspective clients to view during a gathering.  I was blown away.  Every piece was just so unique and beautiful.  I wanted to purchase everything I had the pleasure of seeing.   

 

Until I went on the M.O.T.H. website, I was not aware of the inspiration behind the name of the design collection.  It was there that I found out that M.O.T.H. stood for Mending Of The Heart.  A very apt name considering Cindy often uses semi-precious healing stones in her pieces.  As someone with a longtime interest in the healing properties of crystals and stones, this only made me more intrigued in her jewellery.  There is really something special about each piece.  For those curious, Metier has numerous definitions, including; an occupation, work or activity for which a person is particularly suited, and forte.

I have already voiced my love for the CC Skye Leight Luxe Handbag worn by Megan Fox, but this whole look is a favourite of mine. She looks comfortable and casual in black tights and her Daftbird vneck sweater. Nothing too spectacular, but combined with the handbag and those gorgeous Christian Dior Intrigante tall boots, the look is just so casually stylish and chic! This just goes to show that the right accessories can make the outfit.
