I just love older movies! I cried the first time I watched Roman Holiday, and marveled at how talented men were able to compete as leading men against good looking fellows, when I watched Fred Astaire in You Were Never Lovelier. Gidget made me wish I could surf.

I am in constant awe of the starlets of the of the 40's and 50's.  The flawlessness of their hair and make-up and the impeccable,  pulled together outfits with accessories perfectly matched.  They had a certain something about them that was unattainable, a sort of fairytale life that I wish I could have been a part of.  Amongst my favorite icons of the era are Audrey Hepburn, (of course!) Grace Kelly, and Elizabeth Taylor.

The picture below is one of my absolute favorites!  I plan on framing this one and putting it in my walk in closet.  It is of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly waiting backstage at the RKO Pantages Theatre, during the 28th Annual Academy Awards.

And not to be forgotten, the queen of bombshells, Marilyn Monroe.

Hi there, wickedfaerie sent me! I saw a wonderful exhibition of Grace Kelly's gowns at the V&A in London last year. I could have drooled over them all day.
